This is the ScanDir download page.
Introduction
ScanDir will scan your drives for AutoCAD drawings. It will count the total for each AutoCAD version separately.
It also allows you to create a batch file while it is doing the scanning. All you do is specify a template for the batch file, which will contain a place holder for the drawing name, and say what revision should be included. This way you can easily create a batch file that moves all R12 drawings to c:\temp for example.
Now have a look at the screeshot below.

Usage
Your first step is selecting the drives you wish to scan. Also, tick either *.dwg or *.bak, or both.
Now press START. While ScanDir is scanning your drives, the drive letters will change colour.
| The drives you have selected for scanning are green. | |
| The current drive is red. | |
| The drives on which scanning has finished are blue. |
In the status area you see the current directory name.
Note that the STOP button is enabled, and you can use it to interrupt scanning at any time
Advanced features
You might have noticed the tick boxes in the Drawing section. As soon as you tick one of them, the program window will expand a bit to make room for the batch creation feature.

In the batch file section you'll find a box for the template. The standards is
copy %% c:\temp\
When you press START, everytime a drawing is found that is of the selected revision (R14), a line will be added to the batch file, using the template and replacing %% by the actual file name.
After the scan has finished you can save the batch file with the SAVE button.
If, for example, all you want is a listing of your old R12 drawings on drive P, select drive P, select R12, and set the template to
%%
Installation
That's tricky. Put the file ScanDir.exe into any directory and provide a link to it on your desktop or anywhere you like.
