Introduction

As administrator, you sometimes need to log on to a user's machine. Next time somebody tries to log on, the default user name will be 'administrator':

However, some users get confused when they don't see their own user name as the default in the morning. They don't know what to do:

DefaultUser.exe gives you control over the default user name for the log in box on any machine in your network:

This is how it works

Start the program.

The label underneath the floppy drive is set to the computer name. When you hover your mouse over the label, you can see who the default user for that machine is.

Press the blue floppy eject button to select a different computer in your network.

On the screen you see a list of past users for that machine. The user that last logged off is Pippa. Users that are registered on that computer but don't have a profile in that computer's file system anymore are flagged as 'no user profile'. Liz is such an individual. She can be removed by right clicking on her name and pressing 'Remove user'. To be more specific, it is her entry in the computers registry that will be removed, not she herself.

Also by right clicking you can select a different default user. Right click on a user and press 'Set as default'. You can confirm the selection by hovering your mouse over the computer name label.

To quit, press the red power switch on the front of the computer.

Summary

DefaultUser.exe is an administrator utility. And no shenanigans!
